A Phillie Teacher

I was a starry-eyed teacher from New Jersey. Now I work for Philadelphia Public Schools.

American Schools on trial, found guilty

Posted by aphillieteacher on August 29, 2010

I hope all of you will watch this when it comes out. I certainly will.

Most offensive/frightening is the white-knuckle scene showing families waiting to hear if their child wins a seat in a charter school.

Do we ALL give students a “really crappy” education (as they describe it in the clip)?

And is it — once again — all the teachers’ faults?

It’s always the teacher’s fault. Yup. Poor sad superintendents, administrators, principals, parents and students (or society and poverty) have no part of this “failure.” Just teachers.

Not sure if I can stomach seeing this movie — especially if I have to pay money for it.
